‘Not for the faint of heart’: Trump supporters react to Trump ‘not for the feckless’ proposal
More than 10,000 people turned out to hear the Republican presidential nominee address a crowd of supporters at a Trump rally in Pensacola, Florida, on Thursday, the first of two rallies scheduled for the state on Friday.
Trump said in his opening remarks that he was not seeking to “change the rules of the game.”
“We’re not for the weak,” he said.
“Not for those weak souls.
Not for the fakes.
Not to the fake news.”
The former reality television star also attacked the press, calling them “the enemy of the American people.”
He said they “want to have it all,” and then referred to the “fake news media” as “the real enemy.”
“The media is the enemy of my success, the enemy,” Trump said.
“It’s a disgrace to the country,” Trump continued, repeating the phrase “fake media.”
“They love the media,” he continued.
“They hate me.”
“It will not be for the simple reason that the fake media is trying to destroy me.
It is not going to be for that simple reason.”
Trump continued to blame “certain” media outlets, including CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC, for his failure to win the White House in 2016.
“I will tell you the reason why,” Trump explained.
“CNN, Fox, MSNBC are the enemy.”
During his speech, Trump also discussed his recent comments that he “couldn’t wait” to fire special counsel Robert Mueller.
Trump’s speech was widely criticized as “insensitive” by critics, who called on Trump to apologize to the American public.
Trump defended his decision to fire Mueller in a statement Friday, saying the move was in response to his belief that he could “get away with” a lack of integrity from his own administration.
“My job as president is to protect the American republic from the unhinged and self-serving press, and when the president was unable to do that, he had to act,” Trump told Fox News.
“He didn’t do that in my opinion.
He did it because he couldn’t get away with it.””
I’m not going back into that swamp,” Trump added.
“I won’t.”
“This swamp, as I say, is the swamp, the swamp,” he concluded.
“This swamp is where the money is, the power is, and the power of the establishment is to be found.”
